Things on the Move for the LM Law Move

After months, even years of planning, things are finally getting under way for the move of the Law Library into the main Library of Michigan building and collection. It's all kind of a puzzle that will be worked out in steps.

The
first things that are happening are the installation of new microfilm cabinets in the newspaper microfilm room so the film can be consolidated to make way for the current newspapers, which until now have lived on the third floor where the law collection will go.

And, Susan Smith, a member of the documents team, is busy shifting some of the federal documents collection materials into a closed stacks area. Eventually, all of the federal documents currently housed in standard shelving on the third and fourth floors will be consolidated into new compact shelving on the fourth floor.

Stay tuned for more on this process throughout the winter and spring. The move should be completed in July.
